The company from Lauda-Königshofen in the Main-Tauber district is the world market leader for temperature control devices, heating and cooling systems. They ensure constant temperatures even in extreme areas, from minus 150 to plus 550 degrees Celsius. They are used, for example, in the automotive industry, in aerospace and in research.
The devices cool laser cutting machines and are used to test batteries
Some devices are small and handy, others as high as a man. They control the temperature of samples in the laboratory and reactors for vaccine production, cool laser cutting machines, help with the simulation of environmental influences or are used to test batteries. Devices for ultra-low temperature storage, as they are now in use in the Bad Mergentheimer Klinik, are produced by the company at its location in Burgwedel near Hanover.
“Our production capacities there were actually fully utilized,” explains Wobser (50), who is the third generation to run the company. But for the local hospital, all levers were pulled in to help quickly with a suitable solution. In the meantime, the capacities in Burgwedel are being expanded to meet the high demand.
An important contribution to combating the pandemic
520 people work for Lauda, around 360 of them at the headquarters. In the Corona crisis, you can get by without short-time work and continue to hire. “We are proud”, emphasizes Wobser, “that Lauda can make an important contribution to combating this pandemic with its temperature control and laboratory devices.”
