San Francisco – Due to violations of the manipulation guidelines, the short message service Twitter deleted hundreds of accounts with connections to Armenia, Russia and Iran.
As a result of disinformation campaigns against Azerbaijan, 35 accounts with ties to the Armenian government were removed. Some of the accounts posed as members of the Azerbaijani government, political figures or news agencies, reports the Washington Times.
The short message service blocked a total of 238 accounts with connections to Iran because of “various violations of its guidelines”, including “disrupting the US presidential debate” last fall.
Because of the “spread of narratives” that undermine confidence in NATO and have targeted the United States and the European Union, 100 accounts linked to Russia have also been deleted.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced an investigation into the lockdowns, the news agency reported TASS.
