The Minister of Health inspects the new building at Karnak International Hospital, at a cost of 320 million pounds

Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, inspected today, Monday, the Karnak International Hospital (formerly Luxor General), as part of the follow-up of work on the comprehensive health insurance system in Luxor Governorate.

The Minister was accompanied during her tour by Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Assistant Minister for Supervision and Follow-up Affairs, Head of the Public Authority for Health Care and Supervisor of the New Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, Dr. Mustafa Ghanima, Assistant Minister for Clinical Medicine Affairs, Dr. Mohsen Taha, Head of the Clinical Medicine Sector, and Dr. Amir Al-Talwani, Executive Director of the Public Authority for Health Care, Engineer Akram Sami, Assistant Minister of Health for Information Technology, Dr. Taher Ayoub, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Luxor, and a number of leaders of the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Health Information, Awareness, Community and Population Communication, and the official spokesperson for the ministry, said that the minister inspected the departments of the new building at the “Karnak International” hospital, where she inspected the operating rooms and patient rooms to check their readiness. She also inspected the outpatient building, which The service will be provided to patients in various medical specialties, directed to the speedy completion of the supply of all medical devices and testing them to ensure their efficiency, in preparation for the operation of the first phase of the comprehensive health insurance in Luxor, which includes 4 hospitals (Adissat, Horus, Central Esna, Karnak International), and 42 units A medical center out of a total of 7 hospitals and 59 units.

Mujahid added that the new building was built at a cost of 320 million pounds, with the aim of increasing the hospital’s capacity to serve the people of Upper Egypt governorates, as the building includes 41 beds, 6 operating rooms, an intensive care department and outpatient clinics.

“Mujahid” indicated that the minister made sure during her tour to review the medical files of patients in the hospital to ensure that they received the best medical service.

“Mujahid” stated that the Minister directed Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky, Assistant Minister for Supervision and Follow-up Affairs, Head of the Public Authority for Health Care and Supervisor of the New Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, to quickly finish preparing the new building, and to expedite the supply of medical and non-medical devices necessary to start operating, as well as promptly Completion of the general site coordination.

It is noteworthy that the first phase of implementing the comprehensive health insurance system includes 6 governorates: (Ismailia, Luxor, South Sinai), in which the system was launched on February 16 of this year, and (Port Said), in which the system was launched in July 2019, in addition to the two governorates (Suez) And Aswan), and the system is to be launched in the coming period
