Spotify launches into 80 new markets in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America

Spotify today announced the release of its streaming service in 80 additional markets over the next few days. At the moment, Spotify currently supports 93 countries after recently launching in Korea. With the addition of the current 80, this brings the number of markets supported by Spotify to 173.

As for the markets that will soon have access to Spotify, these include countries in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, providing access to over a billion potential customers. The deployment includes Bangladesh, Cameroon, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and many more.

Market access has been one of the few things that competitors like Apple Music and YouTube Premium had on Spotify. Both services support over 100 markets, many of which are currently being launched by Spotify. Spotify’s established brand could help overcome the lead of these competing services, but it would be a tough climb.

The same sentiment is probably true for the many additional markets that the service now supports.
