This device has been one of the most controversial measuring devices in Germany since it was first used. After clear criticism by the case law, the software was replaced, but the characteristic weaknesses of this speed camera have remained.
Short light impulses are emitted in a bundled beam (100 per second). This scans the road area from a distance of approx. 10 to 75 meters, with the lane on which the measurement is to be made being set before the measurement begins. The approaching vehicle is detected by the light beam and the light pulses are sent back and received again by the speed camera. This allows the travel time to be determined and the speed to be calculated.
However, the shape of the bundle causes the light rays to fan out. This allows them to be reflected from different parts of the vehicle. The speed camera saves them as sent back from a single part. This falsifies the determination of the travel time and thus the calculation of the speed at the expense of the person concerned. In approx. 50% of all measurements, the values do not match and this error can also occur in your measurement.
For overtaking maneuvers, night or convoy journeys, etc. In traffic situations there are allocation problems. Setup or evaluation errors by the measuring staff are also not uncommon. Therefore, the manufacturer expressly requires training on the device. If this is not documented in the file, the measurement cannot be used.
If the calibration of the device has expired at the time of the measurement, the entire series of measurements is canceled. These and other errors can be found when evaluating your raw measurement data and measurement protocols.
