U.S. United Airlines decided to halt the operation of the Boeing 777, which fell to the ground due to an engine failure during flight in Denver, USA on the 21st.
Unite Airlines said in a statement that it will voluntarily suspend operations of 24 Boeing 777 airliners. It also said that it will discuss additional measures necessary with the relevant authorities to resume operations in accordance with strict safety standards.
United aircraft 328 departing Denver International Airport, Colorado and heading for Honolulu, Hawaii the day before, carrying 231 passengers, returned to Denver Airport shortly after takeoff due to engine failure.
At the time, the airliner landed safely, but debris fell from the air and hit residential areas near the airport.
Subsequently, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered to strengthen inspections of Boeing 777s equipped with the same engine (PW4000) of the airliner.
Boeing also advised the airline operating the aircraft to suspend the operation.
United Airlines is the only airline in the United States that uses this type, and some Korean and Japanese airlines also have that type.
According to Korean media, Korean Air, which owns 16 aircraft, is not operating 10, and the remaining six are voluntarily banned after the accident.
Japan’s transport authorities have ordered Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA) to suspend operations.
It is known that the JAL airliner, which returned to Tokyo International Airport from Naha Airport in Japan in December of last year due to an engine defect, was also equipped with the same engine as the airliner in the accident.
