However, conditions for flying helicopters at night are difficult.

Since nighttime firefighting work is forced to rely on humans, alternatives are urgently needed.

The helicopter has to spray water, but it can’t be floated easily at night, so it’s in a situation where only small fires are cleared up.

This is because of the safe flight regulations.

Domestic firefighting helicopters can operate at wind speeds of 5m or less per second, and water supply must be done after landing.

Due to the demanding conditions, fire helicopters are rarely deployed at night.

However, the Korea Forest Service actually put the domestic firefighting helicopter Surion into extinguishing night forest fires and even finished the test.
