The researchers found the participants touched their faces an average of up to 23 times per hour and touched their eyes an average of three times per hour. Those who wear glasses have a two to three times lower risk of contracting Covid-19.

“Touching and rubbing the eyes with contaminated hands may be a significant route of infection,” notes the study report.
“Long-term use of glasses can prevent repeated touching and rubbing of the eyes,” he added.
Doctors previously recommended that people who wear contact lenses switch to glasses to avoid possible transmission corona virus from hand to eye.
