Find all the results of this Sunday afternoon for the 26th day of Ligue 1, marked by the victories of Montpellier and Nîmes.
After its place on the podium last season, Stade Rennais is no longer even in the top 5 of Ligue 1. Traveling on the lawn of Montpellier against an outsider of the championship, the Breton club was further disappointed by losing against la Paillade (2-1).
Young England striker Stephy Mavididi almost took care of everything for MHSC. The former Dijonnais signed a saving double in the first period (17th, 27th). Despite an attempted revolt, Rennes had to wait for the reduction in Guirassy’s score (78th) to really regain hope. A reaction too late for the men of Julien Stéphan, seventh this Sunday. Montpellier is ninth.

Lens and Metz amaze, Nîmes clings
But the real good operation at the top of the table is to be put to the credit of Lens. The amazing promoted has yet signed a precious success – are first at Bollaert in 2021 – by winning against the red lantern, Dijon (2-1), to climb to fifth place. Fofana opened the scoring for the Sang et Or (30th) before Ngonda allowed the Burgundians to resurface (61st). But Lens found the resources to recover in stride and win thanks to Banza (64th), before managing his advantage by finishing eleven against ten.
This defeat is a terrible disillusion for Dijon, because at the bottom of the table, Nîmes widened the gap by winning against Bordeaux (2-0). Meling (14th) and Ripart (71st) have found the net for the Crocos, who remain nineteenth but take a 6-point lead over the DFCO, while Bordeaux is stuck in the soft underbelly, in eleventh place.
Note also the good deal of FC Metz from Frédéric Antonetti, who continues to capitalize on a success in Nice (2-1). Kouyaté (15th) and Gueye (37th) were the garnet scorers. The reduction in Gouiri’s score from the penalty spot (59th) was not enough for the Gym. Metz is seventh, Nice sixteenth. Finally, no winner between Strasbourg and Angers, respectively fifteenth and tenth, who parted with a goalless draw.
