This musical show will be a tour of Paraguayan, Latin and pop folk songs. It will have more functions on February 24 and March 8. Tickets by Ticketea.
From this Monday, February 22, “It’s time to sing – Pilcomayo Porãite” will start its first series of presentations within the framework of the “Ignacio A. Pane” Municipal Theater Summer Series. On this occasion, a group of artists will present themes that cover different musical styles, such as Paraguayan, Latin and pop folk songs, also adding a song of their own authorship that gives the project its name.
In this regard, the person in charge of the group and the project “Pilcomayo Porãite”, the engineer Blas “Coco” Cristaldo Sosa, told how this project came about, since he, in addition to being the executive producer of this event, is also in charge of directing and to supervise the works that allowed the historical recovery of the waters of the Pilcomayo River, which have continued to flow uninterruptedly for almost 500 days and is precisely called “Pilcomayo Porãite”.
“The original idea arises a bit anecdotally,” said engineer Cristaldo Sosa, since a year ago, after carrying out a five-day expedition along the Pilcomayo River (which was documented on video), when he arrived at the final editing stage realizes that there was no Paraguayan music that sang to the Pilcomayo river.
“Coco” recalled that he had found compositions from other countries, or national songs but with a “more warlike” tinge and that was something that did not convince him. At that time he met with the Cheaib brothers: Guido (music) and Elsa (lyrics), who together with the voice of Marcos Brizuela (all part of this great band of musicians) give life to the song “Pilcomayo Porãite”, ” melody that becomes the anthem of this project and in the heart of this group and that is part of the repertoire that will be presented this time, ”said Cristaldo Sosa.
“I consider myself a connoisseur, consumer and lover of music. It seemed like a good way to pay tribute to this beautiful source of life, to make the work we are doing in the Chaco with the river known in a different way, and in turn to give a hand to our artists who are going through a very difficult time Besides, after much searching, I could not find a song of national authorship that sings to the Pilcomayo ”, said the engineer.
Artistic diversity
In this sense, the group that will be presented is made up of approximately thirty renowned musicians of different styles, careers and ages, which “generates a very interesting fusion”, according to “Coco” Cristaldo Sosa, to later mention those who are part from this show: Marcos Brizuela, Guido, Elsa, Iván and Mara Cheaib; Rigoberto Arévalo, Neny Ruiz Díaz, Tito Martínez, Francisco Pavón, Mabel López, Raúl Aguayo, Rito and Gustavo Pedersen, Enrique Ferreira, Heraldo Vargas, Jorge Landó, Marcial Villamayor, Mauricio López, Néstor Báez, Salvador García, Arnaldo Velázquez Penayo, Wilson Otto Álvarez, Daniel Pavetti, Shirley Falcón Martínez, Óscar Ortellado Sarabia, Víctor Cáceres Martínez and Álvaro Rodríguez Licitra, Ramón González, among others.
“Being a new group, this is a very important challenge, since it is the first live presentation, nothing more and nothing less than in one of the most important and representative stages of the country with three double dates,” said Cristaldo Sosa.
In addition to today, the functions will be this Wednesday, February 24 and also on Monday, March 8, repeating the hours of 7:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. for each day. Limited tickets are on sale through Ticketea and have a cost of G. 100,000.
The organizers highlighted that the event will have and comply with all the health and safety protocols applied by both the Municipal Theater and the organization itself.
