Nocturnal action in memory of the Hanau murder victims. The “Subversive Action Collective Darmstadt” is calling for a memorial to commemorate those who were killed.
After the city forbade the Ludwigsmonument to commemorate the victims of the racially motivated terrorist attack in Hanau last week, activists of the “Subversive Action Collective Darmstadt” (SAD) put a banner in front of the facade of the regional council on Saturday night hung on Luisenplatz. The names of the nine murder victims and the sentence “We are only dead when we are forgotten” were written on the banner by Ferhat Unvar, one of the victims.
Mayor Jochen Partsch (Greens) rejected a joint commemoration with the “Alliance against the Right” on Friday with reference to left-wing extremists in the alliance. Instead, a recorded speech by Partsch was posted online on various channels on Friday. In a press release, SAD criticized Partsch’s negative attitude and is now calling for a “sustainable memorial to commemorate the victims”. jjo
