Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, spreads through strong winds… Fire mobilization decree No. 1 issued

-On the afternoon of the 21st, the fire department issued’Fire Fighting Ordinance No. 1’to extinguish a fire in a hill in Mangcheon-ri, Imdong-myeon, Andong-si, Gyeongbuk.

The Fire Department announced that it issued the 1st forest fire mobilization decree at 5:48 pm that day.

The firefighting response system is operated in 1 to 3 stages depending on the size of the fire or disaster. The first stage is the fire department that has jurisdiction over the accident, the second stage is beyond the boundaries of the city and provincial fire department headquarters, and the third stage is issued when it is possible to mobilize national firefighting forces, such as last year’s forest fires on the east coast of Gangwon.

Among them, Dong Won-ryeong structured the scale of the national firefighting forces in the third stage of the response. No. 1 is 5% of the fire fighting power on duty in each city/province, No. 2 is 10%, and No. 3 is 20%. The targets for mobilization following the issue of No. 1 are the fire fighting power of the fire fighting headquarters of 7 cities and provinces including Gyeongnam, Daegu, Ulsan, Changwon, Chungnam, Daejeon, and Busan.

Their gathering site was originally changed from Andong Gyeongbuk Fire School to Imha Sub-Dam Parking Lot, which is easy to put in suppression work.

Earlier, at 3:20 pm on the same day, a report was received that smoke was coming up from a hill in Mangcheon-ri, Imdong-myeon, Andong. At 3:41 pm, the first arrival team arrived at the site, and at 4:36 pm, the first stage of response was issued and 14 helicopters were mobilized to work on the evolution.

However, as the risk of a forest fire spreading due to strong winds increased, it was upgraded to stage 2 at 4:56, 20 minutes later. Fortunately, there is no human injury yet, but the fire continues to spread.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security, which is the department in charge of disaster and safety, started the forest fire countermeasure support headquarters at 6 pm on the same day and dispatched the site situation management team.
