But even this moment of magic was not enough for Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, who suffered a shock defeat on Saturday afternoon.

Lewandowski and Sane combine for Bayern Munich goal against Eintracht Frankfurt

City haven’t really missed Sane since leaving to return to their native Germany last summer, but he certainly would have caught their attention with his dazzling footwork against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Receiving the ball to the edge of the box with a delicious touch, the 25-year-old beat two defenders with two skillful scythes, sitting the two Frankfurt players on their rumps, before playing a single pass to Lewandowski.

Of course, the Polish superstar wasn’t wrong, putting the ball into the net with ease to add to his remarkable goal tally this season.

Lewandowski now has 26 goals and six assists in just 21 Bundesliga games this season.

In all competitions, the clinical leader has a record 31 goals and eight assists in 31 games.

It’s a mind-blowing result from the 32-year-old, who has scored eight more goals than any player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Top scorers in the top five leagues this season:

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich): 21 ans
André Silva (Eintracht Francfort): 18
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool): 17 years old
Kylian Mbappe (PSG): 16
Romelu Lukaku (Inter Milan): 16
Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus): 16
Luis Suarez (Atletico Madrid): 16
Lionel Messi (Barcelona): 15
Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund): 15

But Lewandowski’s arrival failed to inspire a return for Bayern as the defending champions and current leaders were beaten 2-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt.

The German giants missed the opportunity to score an eight-point lead at the top of the table, with the loss allowing two games without a win after their incredible 3-3 draw with promoted side Arminia last time around.

The result also marks another memorable victory for Eintracht over the 30-time German champion. Their 5-1 win last season sparked Niko Kovac’s departure as Bayern coach, with Flick entering and leading the club to Champions League victory.

Julian Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig can reduce the lead to two points if they win Sunday’s game at Hertha Berlin.
