The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 21st that it will supply 5.71 million eco-friendly buoys this year.
This year, it will invest 57.1 billion won, which is 2.8 times that of last year (20 billion won), to supply eco-friendly buoys.
This year’s supply is three times that of 1.87 million last year.
To this end, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries certified eco-friendly buoys on 398 eco-friendly buoys made by a total of 55 companies and recently completed a unit price contract.
Fisheries can purchase eco-friendly buoys through local water cooperatives, and 70% of the purchase cost can be supported by the central government and local governments.
Currently, 55 million buoys are used in laver, oyster, and cage farms nationwide.
Of these, 72% were surveyed as styrofoam buoys, and the remaining 28% were surveyed as eco-friendly buoys.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to completely withdraw the styrofoam buoys by 2025.
