It’s unpaid and unregistered… Why?

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong was imposed a restriction on employment for five years.
It says not to go into management at all, but there is a view that it will not be practically easy to apply, as it is unpaid and unregistered, and it is qualified as a major shareholder.

Samsung Electronics is promoting the establishment of a new semiconductor plant in the US.
Intel is considering outsourcing foundries for some semiconductors, and Taiwan’s TSMC has also disclosed its investment plans in the US and Japan, so investment decisions must be made before it is too late.
It is expected that the investment amount will be more than 30 trillion won, which requires a decision from Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong.
However, as the Ministry of Justice imposed a restriction on employment for five years, variables arose.
Some interpret it to mean not to run in prison, but Vice-Chairman Lee is unpaid, and since 2019, he has been left out as a registered executive, making it controversial.
In the case of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon, who was released after being bound by employment restrictions for the last 7 years, officially withdrew from the CEO and Registered Director, but retained the position of Chairman, and SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won maintained an unpaid unpaid registration until the amnesty was granted Took the form to participate in.
In the US, high-intensity measures such as permanent withdrawal of management are possible, but some view that it is not easy to apply in Korea.
“Because the fair trade law nominates the total number as the same person to recognize the general management right, and the majority shareholder can influence and participate in management by using the rights and position of the dominant landlord.”
As in the case of Samyang Food’s CEO Kim Jeong-soo, it is important to know what options Lee will make in the future, as it is possible to get a job if approved by the Ministry of Justice.
