German agents have arrested a 66-year-old man suspected of sending multiple letter bombs to food groups in the country, it was reported on Saturday. Two of those bomb letters exploded, injuring four people.

The police say that the man could be arrested without resistance. A possible motive is not yet known.

On Tuesday, a package of the Capri-Sun drink exploded in Eppelheim in South Germany. On Wednesday, three employees of a Lidl office in Neckarsulm, South Germany, were injured by an exploding letter bomb.

All employees were treated in hospital, but were not in danger of life. The police do not think more bomb letters have been sent.
