MARCHEGG – Construction waste dump: Opponents move closer together

As the NÖN reported, the opponents of the planned construction waste dump in Breitensee are moving closer together. Last week, for example, representatives of the citizens’ initiative BUM (Breitensee and Marchfeld) had a conversation with ÖVP Mayor Gernot Haupt, ÖVP Vice Mayor Richard Kohl, ÖVP City Councilor Andreas Schwab and three local councilors, in which various discrepancies from the past months were resolved could.

“We at BUM are very pleased that, after this factual discussion, the town of Marchegg will fight the landfill with all possible means and will work with us in the future,” reports BUM spokesman Nikica Grubesic of the conversation: “The mayor has promised us that the municipality is ready to finance a professional lawyer and an expert for landfill technology, both of which are selected by the BUM, after clarifying the expected costs, ”said Grubesic.

Irritation because of statement from Haupt

He was a little irritated by Haupt’s formulation in the last NÖN edition, “that what the BUM does is nonsense”. At the time, Haupt was referring to an open letter from BUM in which he was violently attacked. “It should be mentioned that the community representatives have not contested a single notice of the authority in writing since 1994 and continue to fail to do so. B. to object to the final operating plan of the gravel pit with regard to the duration ”, Grubesic explains the letter. “The operator is violating a lot of points in the last notices, and action should be taken against this,” emphasizes Grubesic.

The recultivation of the first section of the gravel pit would have to take place at the latest at the start of the second half of the mining. “The approved dismantling heights are constantly exceeded – without any consequences – and the specified minimum distances of 20 meters from public traffic areas are not observed. And that’s only a small selection, ”continues Grubesic.

“Also in certain additional provisions of the zoning, the access road to the planned landfill, the final operating plan presented by the Pannonia company to the existing gravel pit and the official requirements it did not comply with during recultivation, we as BUM still see opportunities for the municipality to take further legal steps put. Of course we are happy to cooperate, ”concludes Grubesic and finally extends his hand to cooperate – more determined than ever.
