Spokesperson for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Dedy Permadi said, according to the regulations of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology No.5 of 2020 concerning Private Scope Electronic System Operators (PSE), every WHY who operate communication services in Indonesia are required to register.
“Clubhouse has not been registered with the Ministry of Communication and Information and we hope to register according to the provisions of PM 5/2020,” said Dedy, quoted in the Ministry of Communication and Information’s press release, Friday (19/2).
Dedy emphasized that applications that are not registered will get access termination in the form of blocking access, closing accounts and / or deleting content. He explained that this is in accordance with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Regulation No. 5/2020, namely PSE that do not register according to the applicable policies, will receive administrative sanctions in the form of terminating access.
The obligation to register for the Private Scope PSE applies to all applications, not only the Clubhouse. Registration should also be done before electronic systems begin to be used by the public.
“The registration period is six months since the Ministerial Regulation was promulgated on November 24, 2020. This provision applies to all PSEs, not just Clubhouse,” Dedy said.
He stressed the importance of maintaining PSE registration digital space Indonesia is healthier. In addition, registration is also an effort to protect netizens as application users, such as protecting personal data and cybersecurity.
“This registration process is a normal and normal process, just like business registration,” said Dedy.
He also said that the public could provide complaints / information against private PSE that did not carry out registration obligations. “Citizens do not need to worry because the PSE-PSE registration process has been, is currently, and will run until the deadline,” he said.
