As AstraZeneca (AZ)’s new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccination begins next week, attention is focused on who will be the ‘1st inoculation’ in Korea.
According to the quarantine authorities on the 20th, the government will start vaccination of AstraZeneca for residents and workers under the age of 65 in 5873 nursing hospitals, nursing facilities, mental care and rehabilitation facilities nationwide starting on the 26th of this month.
The number of vaccination targets was 272,131, including 43,303 residents and 228,000,828 workers.
This accounts for 41.9% of the total number of residents and workers in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities (648,000,855 people).
However, the number of people who will actually be vaccinated is expected to decrease.
The quarantine authorities have previously registered and supplemented the number of vaccinations for each institution after pre-registration of the subjects to be vaccinated in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities. The final number of people confirmed by each local public health center by the day before is scheduled to appear by this afternoon.
An official from the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team explained, “The statistics on the consent rate of vaccination targets will be collected first as of 12:00 pm on the 19th,” and “it can be modified or supplemented before vaccination.”
Even if the number of vaccination targets is confirmed, it is expected that it will take some time before the selection of the’No. 1 vaccination’.
This is because detailed work remains, such as adjusting the vaccination date and vaccination method for each institution, and preparing the required amount accordingly.
Inside and outside the quarantine authorities, it is predicted that the first inoculation will be released among workers in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities.
In the previous briefing, Eun-kyung Jung, head of the vaccination and response promotion, said, “Since the 26th, AstraZeneca vaccination begins at nursing homes and nursing facilities and is gradually expanded, it is expected that nursing hospital workers will be eligible for No. 1 vaccination.” I have said that.

The quarantine authorities plan to announce the first inoculation as soon as detailed preparation work for vaccination is completed.
An official from the promotion team said, “The institution to give the first vaccination has not been decided yet. The 1st vaccination will be available on the 25th or 26th when the vaccine delivery and vaccination schedule are specified.
In countries that started vaccination ahead of us, the number of ‘1st inoculation’ is diverse, including medical staff, the elderly, and heads of state.
On December 8, last year, the protagonist who received the Corona 19 vaccine for the first time in the world was a British grandmother in her 90s. Margaret Keenan, who was on the verge of her 91st birthday at the time, received the Pfizer vaccine at a university hospital in Coventry, England, and became the first vaccinator.
In the United States, on December 14 last year, a female nurse working at Long Island Zooish Hospital in Queens, New York City, received the first vaccine. A black man, he comes from an immigrant born in Jamaica.
In Rome, Italy, vaccinations were performed from medical staff belonging to the infectious disease general hospital, who has been dedicated to the treatment of corona19 patients.
Japan, which started full-fledged vaccination from the 17th, received the vaccine for the first time at the Tokyo Medical Center of the National Hospital Organization in Tokyo, Director Araki Kazuhiro. In Japan, the target group for prior vaccination is about 40,000 medical workers.
In some cases, heads of state, such as the president or the prime minister, are the first inoculations.
