Very uncertain future for the Little Nightmares license

Despite the success of the first episode and the warm welcome received by the second, Little Nightmares 2 might not have a sequel. Not on Tarsier’s side anyway. This is what Embracer Group, the studio’s parent company, tells us in a financial report.

Lars Wingefors, CEO of Embracer Group, said he is very satisfied with the results of the first episode and is confident for this second installment. He also congratulated the CEO of Tarsier for the reception that Little Nightmares 2. He adds, however, that the buyout did not include the license fees. These indeed still belong to Bandai Namco. If we can imagine that an agreement would be reached for a possible follow-up, it would not have a significant enough financial impact for Embracer Group. It therefore confirms the decision to focus on the creation of new licenses.

Little Nightmares could thus have a sequel, but on the side of Bandai Namco, which would have every interest in taking over the series by having it developed by another studio. If you haven’t tried the games yet Little Nightmares, the test of the second opus is available here. You can also check out the trailer below.
