48 hours of the best documentary cinema, online and free – RCI

To celebrate its first anniversary of existence, the documentary film platform Tënk decided to make available to the public, during a weekend and for free, all of its programming.

The event will take place from Friday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. and until Sunday, February 28 at 12 at night.

During that time, the varied offer of this local and independent platform dedicated to documentaries will be accessible without any cost or restrictions.

Since its appearance on February 28, 2020, Tënk has issued more than 300 films that are exponents of the so-called auteur cinema and where the plurality of points of view has its space assured, offering a broadcast channel to both emerging filmmakers and the consecrated.

Throughout the first year, the leadership was in the hands of women filmmakers and Québec cinema, which with its long documentary tradition, was also proudly represented.

Among the 119 locally produced films that were selected, the practically unknown The Idle by René Bail, to the award-winning short film by Carmen Rachiteanu, Already.

Among the topics addressed are the question of old age, explored through the programming of the anthropologist Luce Des Aulniers, also digital privacy, from the perspective of the filmmaker and professor Diane Poitras, and the American reality, through from a series of films selected by journalist Fabien Deglise.

In addition, as part of the birthday celebrations, the platform will launch its bilingual version, making comprehensive programming available in the two official languages ​​from coast to coast of the country.

During the week of presentation in both languages, a special program will be offered, to show the filmmakers whose works are produced mostly in English.

Finally, Tënk will have a new look with the launch in the summer of 2021 of an improved version of its platform, which will allow to present works even better and share them more easily. More editorial content will also be offered, such as interviews with documentary makers.
