People confined to bed due to permanent disability are not the only ones who have the right to have their blood drawn at home, free of charge, through the National Health Service. Those who, for a limited period in a condition of physical frailty or disability. There are no age or disease limits. And you don’t need a certificate of civil disability. The basic requirement is the inability to transport the person to the health district.


The candidates

Some examples: those who are bedridden after surgery or following an accident who has caused fractures can measure blood sugar or do the blood count at home. The same goes for those with low immune defenses, as transplant recipients and serious cancer patients (or at the end of a course of chemotherapy), and must minimize contact with the outside in order not to expose themselves to infections. Idem women with an abortion risk pregnancy (or premature placental abruption), people on oral anticoagulant therapy, susceptible to thrombus formation (due to pre-existing disease or rupture of the femur), and those receiving palliative care. Even a contagious infectious disease, such as measles and Covid, entitles you to a collection from your home.
