Report on the 2021 International Festival of Sacred Art




After the interruption of the previous edition, this month one of the most important annual musical events in the Community of Madrid starts again. Between February 18 and March 25, the International Festival of Sacred Art of the Community of Madrid (fīās). In its programming there will be a series of 47 concerts created for the festival, since 33 of them are premieres and 15 that have been commissioned by the festival itself.

Despite its name, this festival includes a huge diversity of musical genres, from popular music to old music. To this is added a variety of stages throughout the community, extending to seven municipalities apart from the capital, located between theaters, chapels and auditoriums.

The sacred, understood not only from the religious point of view, but from a broader point of view is what drives the programming. It is a meeting point between artistic modalities such as performing arts, philosophy The literature, apart from the song. We also find again a function of the recovery of the historical musical heritage, with premieres by composers such as Brunetti, Patiño or Palomino.
