Corona 19 vaccination began in Japan about two months later than major developed countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom.

Although it has started, it seems inevitable that the inoculation schedule will be disrupted amid the global supply shortage.

Vaccination started in Japan more than a year after the coronavirus outbreak.

A questionnaire about health status, etc. was written, and the vaccination proceeded after consultation with a doctor.

Those who received the vaccine waited at the site for about 15 minutes and checked for abnormalities.

In this hospital, where the first vaccinations in Japan began, 800 people, including doctors and nurses, receive the vaccine in sequence.

Some of these will be followed up for about a month to check for various side effects.

Prime Minister Suga said he would aim for a full national vaccination by July, before the Olympics.

However, due to the unstable supply, the deadline for vaccinations was eventually extended to February next year.

About 190,000 vaccines entered Japan on the 12th.

Secondary shipments will be coming from Europe next week, but no schedule has been set after that.

Beginning in April, vaccinations are administered by each local government starting with the elderly.

It is planned to focus on group vaccinations using public facilities, but there is still insufficient workforce in the hospital, so it is difficult to secure medical staff.

A computerized system for unifying and managing vaccination records is still not disclosed.

[고노 다로 / 백신 담당 장관 : 문제 없이 접종이 진행되면 좋겠지만 반드시 문제가 생기게 될 것입니다. 그때 다 같이 힘을 모아 원활히 대응하는 것이 중요합니다.]

Amid uncertain prospects and concerns, the Japanese government has taken the first step toward the unknown path of vaccination for 120 million people.
