Queen: Don’t Stop Me Now exceeds one billion streams on Spotify!

Remember, three years ago, 2018 was marked by the success of the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, chronicling the life and career of the Queen singer: the one and only Freddie Mercury. An unexpected box office success that has garnered renewed attention to all of the British group’s biggest hits. Proof with the title Don’t Stop Me Now which has just reached the incredible figure of over 1 billion streams on the Spotify platform. And if this figure may seem ridiculous for fans of Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa or The Weeknd, it is in fact totally exceptional and unpublished for a song dating from 1978. We let you (re) listen to this real masterpiece.

Unveiled on the album Jazz, the seventh opus of Queen, this title written by Freddie Mercury remains one of the greatest successes of the British group. A nice little anecdote, this song was recorded in the Super Bear studio, located in France. The lyrics of the song tell the story of Lady Godiva, an 11th-century Anglo-Saxon nobleman who, according to legend, crossed the streets of Coventry on horseback, completely naked, to convince her husband to lower the taxes he levied on the inhabitants. Ranked third best Queen song by Rolling Stone magazine according to band fans, this hit continues to inspire new generations. And if our calculations are correct, it should be followed soon by Another One Bites The Dust, which at the time of writing more than 942 million streams on Spotify.
