New York. – A new winter storm watch for much of the New York City region has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS).
The period covers from 6 am on Thursday until 6 am on Friday. Includes all of NYC, all of Long Island, Westchester, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Sullivan counties in New York. In addition to the Bergen, Essex, Hudon, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren districts in New Jersey, Fox News detailed.
The new snowstorm could drop 3 to 6 inches in NYC, and 6 to 12 inches in areas north and west of the city. Even NYC could have more snow if the storm moves further south.
“So we’ll have to see where this lines up,” said Paul Walker, a meteorologist at AccuWeather. “That is a possibility, that is one of the concerns of this storm: we do not know the exact trajectory and the strength of it, at this time.”
The flakes are expected to start falling Thursday morning, according to “It’s going to be pretty heavy at first,” he predicted. “Once the snow starts, it will mix with sleet.”
At the start of the storm on Thursday, temperatures will be around 20 degrees F (-6C). Later in the day, temperatures will rise to around 30F (-1C), the New York Post noted.
