As is well known, carnival events cannot take place this year due to the corona pandemic. In order to make good use of Rose Monday, the 1st Eisleber Carnevalsverein “De Lotterstädter” has called on its members to take part in the blood donation appointment of the German Red Cross (DRK) in Eisleben.
Carnivalists donating blood
“A total of five association members took part in the blood donation appointment,” says Norbert Lakomy, the honorary chairman of the “Lotterstädter”. They were disguised with fools’ caps and carnival medals. The blood donation appointment took place on the premises of the Eisleben volunteer fire department. “It was a good thing for us and a funny sight for those waiting there,” said Lakomy. So you could spread a little carnival atmosphere even in these difficult pandemic times.
For carnivalists, the design of Rose Monday actually looks different. This year, however, the foolish actions are rather rare. The call to donate blood was therefore under the motto of the carnival hit: “Make sense of it, that’s great – viva Islebia”. Under normal circumstances, the traditional handover of the town hall key to the mayor would have been planned on Rose Monday, according to the honorary chairman of the Eisleber Carnival Association. The premises of the volunteer fire brigade have otherwise always been used for the children’s carnival of the carnival club in recent years, which also had to be canceled this year.
