In the new election period, a new working group is to look after improving the parliamentary information system and clarifying questions about how meetings of city councilors can be broadcast via the Internet.
The Darmstadt city council has unanimously decided that the magistrate should convene a working group “Digitization of the city council” at the beginning of the next election period. The committee should include representatives of the parliamentary groups, the administration and, if necessary, the municipal Digitalstadt GmbH.
The Uffbasse parliamentary group, which is a cooperation partner of the coalition of the Greens and the CDU, stimulated the discussion about a better digital offer from the city parliament. The two coalition groups took up the Uffbasse motion and tabled an amendment that was ultimately supported by all groups.
According to the ideas of the city councilors, the new working group should deal with various topics and develop recommendations for the magistrate. Above all, the interface of the parliamentary information system is to be optimized for smartphones and tablets and the system is to be expanded to include management for large and small inquiries.
In addition, an amendment to the rules of procedure for the city council should be prepared and legal issues clarified in order to enable live broadcasts of the parliamentary sessions on the Internet.
