Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, announced the launch of a program dedicated to the fight against variants in an interview with “Echoes” on Tuesday (February 16th).

This new program “will bring together laboratories, health authorities, scientists, and the European Commission, with significant dedicated funds,” assured Ursula von der Leyen, without specifying the amounts.

As for the marketing of new vaccines able to better respond to Covid-19 variants, the European Commissioner for Health, Stella Kyriakides, has promised an acceleration of the authorization procedure by the European Medicines Agency.
