The Mijas City Council has granted the building permit for the expansion of sports facilities from the San Francisco de Asís school, whose global investment amounts to 2.5 million euros, as announced this Monday by the mayor of Urbanism, Andrés Ruiz.
This was highlighted by the councilor in a visit he made to the center, where he was accompanied by the director of the school, Javier Alcázar, highlighting that “a project of this type requires a lot of previous work“Which has taken” a few months of great effort. “
In this sense, Ruiz has detailed that the project has two actions such as the expansion of sports facilities and a new access to school, for which the educational community has been working for years and has managed to reach an agreement with the families of the neighboring lands.
Thus, he has indicated that the school had about 8,500 square meters and thanks to the acquisition of these new lands has added 12,500 square meters, totally destined to the expansion of sports equipment.
For his part, Javier Alcázar has stressed that “throughout all these years we have been implemented the different educational stages, but we had the feeling that the school was getting a little small and we were suffering from what was the recreation areas “.
Thus, this action contemplates, on the one hand, the new sports facilities which will have two outdoor sports courts, 8 paddle tennis courts, a covered pavilion with capacity for 500 people and an outdoor swimming pool. On the other hand, the new access to school It is going to decongest the current entrance to the school, which means an alternative road that connects Avenida de Mijas with the new land.
The works will be carried out in 2 phases, a first referring to the outdoor area of the sports courts, paddle tennis courts, access and the pool, planned for start in the second half of March with an execution period of 12 months and, then, the covered pavilion, since it is an important construction that foresees a capacity for 500 people.
