When Valheim’s independent survival action came out on the second February, it left most gaming journalists completely cold. Similar games betting on cooperation and a procedurally generated world is on A lot of steam.
Valheim did not offer anything we would not see in smaller periods. The graphics are nice, but they don’t care, the game mechanics aren’t exceptional, the setting in the Viking posthumous world isn’t purely original, yet the developers from the small Swedish studio Iron Gate can boast a million copies sold after less than a fortnight.
And that’s not all, Valheim, which takes up only 1 GB on the HDD, can be proud of its 96% rating and already in the number of players playing concurrently ranks tenth in historical tables. Such numbers are, for example, similar in genre, but nevertheless more expensive to produce Fallout 76 it can only seem after two years of full operation.
Whether it’s just a fashionable wave that will run fast, or we have a new regular, we don’t dare say yet. We will definitely try to find out what is so tempting about the game.
