Nuisance. In front of the Riesa nursing home on Hospitalweg there was a good mood on Sunday morning: MDR Saxony presenter Silvio Zschage was there with his mobile phone and had brought plenty of music with him that came from large loudspeakers. The man at the microphone also had a few entertaining stories ready for the songs by Schlager and pop interpreters such as Helene Fischer, Roland Kaiser or Nena.
The residents, some of whom had made themselves comfortable on chairs in the roundabout with hot drinks and bratwurst, apparently liked it as much as the home staff. If it was too cold outside at -10 degrees Celsius, you swayed behind the windows in the building.
The one-hour visit by Zschage is part of this week’s “Time out from everyday life” campaign that has been running at MDR Sachsen since the beginning of this week. The moderator, with his mix of music and moderation, visits a different facility in Saxony every day – including daycare centers, retirement homes and residential complexes for the disabled.
The MDR man came to Riesa at Sonja György’s request. The Left City Councilor has been a member of the supervisory board of the municipal nursing and care center (PBZ), to which the senior citizens’ home on Hospitalweg belongs, for many years. You wanted to do something good for the residents as well as the employees, said György, who was there herself on Sunday. “Especially in the difficult times of the pandemic, all employees and volunteers give everything to provide the residents with the best possible care. So it’s time to say thank you. “(SZ / ewe)
