On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the Leclerc hypermarket in Thionville has decided to play matchmaker. “The restaurants, bars, nightclubs being closed, one of the only places where we still have a little human contact, so to speak, it’s at the hypermarket”, explains Gilles Beconcini, director of the place. Thus, throughout the week, twenty baskets for singles were available at the entrance.
Relayed on social networks, the initiative caused a stir, with more than 11,000 shares on the counter. “We are copied everywhere”, supports the director. In the comments, some have fun, others agree – or not – but some point to the gendered nature of the initiative. Critics that Gilles Beconcini sweeps aside: “We wanted to put something in place to have fun and bring a little cheerfulness to the gloomy environment. ”
