Former world number one Carolina Pliskova has been ruled out of the Australian Open. Pliskova was eliminated after losing to Muchova. They lost in straight sets in the third round. Disappointed by the defeat, Pliskova smashed his own racquet on the court: 7–5, 7–5. Pliskova is currently the world number six. Despite being the number one player, he has yet to win a Grand Slam title. In July 2017, Pliskova became the world number one for the first time.
