In two districts of Denzlingen there could be significantly fewer buses in the future than before: Heidach and Unterdorf.
The local transport plan for the districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau Hochschwarzwal as well as for the city of Freiburg will be updated. This has an impact on bus traffic in Denzlingen. These were presented to the local council last Tuesday. The municipal administration asks for information from the citizens.
. What is it about?
Every five years, the Freiburg Regional Transport Association (ZRF), which is responsible for the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, Emmendingen and the city of Freiburg, has to update the so-called local transport plan – for example, bus transport is gradually being expanded. With the expansion of the Breisgau S-Bahn in recent years, rail traffic has been significantly increased – Denzlingen also benefits from this. Now the traffic is to be equipped with better local transport connections for communities that do not have a train station. In future, the hourly rate decided by the state government will also apply to them. Therefore the bus traffic has to be adapted. What the new local transport plan means specifically for Denzlingen was presented to the local council on Tuesday. What is changing in Denzlingen?
On most routes, the number of bus connections through and to Denzlingen will be significantly increased – especially on the weekends. For example, while line 202 (Denzlingen-Vrstetten-Emmendingen) only runs five times on Sundays, it should be 17 in the future. The line from Nimburg to Denzlingen, which currently only runs on weekends, will in future also operate more on weekdays.
What is the catch?
Because Denzlingen has a train station, bus services should be saved on connections that basically work by train. Line 7200 between Denzlingen and Emmendingen, for example, is to be completely canceled. In the future, the current lines 7209 and 7206 between Denzlingen and Freiburg will only run half as often on working days. From the point of view of some local residents, Denzlingers in the Heidach district would be disadvantaged. In the future, you will have to go to the train station more often to get a connection to Freiburg. The bus connection could also deteriorate for the lower village. In the future, almost no buses should stop there. The fear: The Unterdorf could be cut off from bus traffic.
What can the church do?
If the local supply plan is implemented in this way, the municipality of Denzlingen has the option of setting up its own lines in addition to the bus connections currently planned. This would then have to finance the community – at least to a large extent. It is envisaged that in such a case the district should bear a third of the costs and the municipality two thirds. But that has not yet been determined either. The district council has not yet passed a corresponding resolution. Nothing is currently known about how high the costs of such a connection could be.
There is more hope for bus traffic in Denzlinger Unterdorf than for Heidach. According to the ZRF, connections that also take the Unterdorf into account are basically conceivable if connections are still maintained and no additional costs arise. It has not yet been clarified whether this is actually the case in the end.
When should the plan take effect?
The start of the new local transport plan is planned for December 2021. Then the first measures for the timetable change will be implemented in June or December 2022. It is not yet clear whether Denzlingen will be affected by this. That means it will be some time before something changes noticeably for bus traffic in Denzlingen.
What’s next now?
The municipal administration can comment on the local transport plan now presented by March 31. The ZRF will then sift through the submitted objections and possibly adjust the planning. The Denzlingen municipal administration also wants to ask the population for suggestions. There will be more information from the town hall in the coming week, as announced.
