The Water System Charlotte Water urges your customers seek financial aid while the funds are available to pay any late bills.
Approximately $ 33.7 million is available from non-profit organizations, but applications are approved on a first-come, first-served basis. No information is available on when or if another round will open funding later this year.

With the latest round of financial aid available, Charlotte Water is doing everything possible to funds are in the hands of those who need them. In December, Charlotte Water Ambassador employees made nearly 9,300 calls alerting customers to the financial aid available.
“What our ambassadors learned from the phone call campaign is that clients cannot seek financial help until they are faced with disconnection”Said the customer service manager of Charlotte Water, Steve Miller. “We prefer not to disconnect customers at all, and especially during a pandemic when water is essential to maintain public health ”.
By partnering with agencies like Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, Crisis Assistance Ministry Y Common Wealth Charlotte, customers can get out of debt below rent, mortgage, electricity, gas or water. The average customer’s late water bill payments are nearly $ 600.

Additional customer help
In October, Charlotte Water continued with the temporary practice of don’t disconnect clients for past due account balances and do not impose late fees. It also placed clients with outstanding past-due balances on a 12-month agreement without interest payment to avoid accumulating larger account balances.
Charlotte Water also took the additional step of creating the first Customer Service Team of the utility company, a group of trained customer service professionals dedicated to working one-on-one with customers.
