PYONGYANG, Feb.12 (Xinhua) – Ri Son Gwon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), has been elected a member of the political bureau of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea (PTC), reported Friday the official KCNA agency.
The election took place at a four-day plenary meeting of the PTC 8th Central Committee that ended on Thursday, she said.
Moreover, according to KCNA, Kim Song Nam, another party official, was also appointed deputy member of the political bureau, while O Su Yong was elected director of the economic affairs department of the PTC.
This plenary meeting of the Central Committee was convened to discuss how to implement the tasks of the first year of a five-year economic development plan defined at the 8th party congress last month.
Kim Jong Un, the DPRK’s supreme leader, attended a Lunar New Year performance on Thursday with members of the party’s central governing body after the plenary meeting, according to KCNA.
