Hair donation for International Childhood Cancer Day

Social Welfare of the City of Teguise has launched the awareness and sensitization campaign “Teguise + Solidaria” on the occasion of the International Day of Childhood Cancer, which is celebrated on February 15, with the aim of donating hair for the production of wigs . The initiative will last until mid-March.

All those who want to participate can do so for free through a “Solidarity Court” in the hairdressers of the municipality attached to the project, donating a minimum of 30 centimeters of hair, which will be delivered, with the collaboration of AFOL, to the Hospital Ruber Internacional de Barcelona that will make the wigs to provide them to those minors who need them.

«The word ‘cancer’ continues to be one of the most feared and common in our lives, and even more so when it affects the little ones, although thanks to advances in medicine and the solidarity of many, it has become in recent years a disease that we can fight, ”said the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.

This disease affects more than 1,500 children in Spain every year, with hair loss being one of the main causes that emotionally damages minors who suffer from it.

“We believe that by making small gestures like this, we can make many people happier and make the path to the end of the disease more pleasant,” said the Councilor for Social Welfare of Teguise, Isidro Alonso.

The companies that collaborate will receive golden capes and bows to carry out the activity, which they will give to all the people who collaborate with these children who fight against the disease as a symbol of strength and heroism to decorate the participants, who are encouraged to share your gesture on Instagram with the hashtag # teguise + solidaria.
