Émilise Lessard-Therrien is fulminating.
The solidarity member for Rouyn-Noranda-Témiscamingue protests against logging on public lands near maple groves.
She asks the Caquist government and the regional minister Pierre Dufour, who is the Minister of Forests, to formally prohibit commercial cuts near sugar bushes in activity or with the potential to become so.
“If they want to expand in the future, they will not be able to do so since there will have been logging. We are concerned about that because if we cut down these trees, we are really mortgaging our future and our future development in terms of our production of syrup and maple products. For me, this is extremely problematic because it is a flagship in Quebec. ”
