The driver of an ICE between Waigolshausen and Gemünden will not soon forget Epiphany in January 2021. Suddenly there was a large poster in the middle of the rails, like a white wall. Despite the emergency braking, the ICE drove into the obstacle. Nobody was injured, but the railcar was damaged. After weeks of investigations, the police have a hot lead. This leads to Bad Bocklet (district of Bad Kissingen) and various groups of corona deniers.
On Wednesday morning, several civilian patrol cars were parked in front of a house in Bad Bocklet. The support command of the riot police and the Würzburg criminal police searched the apartment of a man (36) and his wife (34) as well as two other apartments of other tenants in Bad Kissingen and Oberthulba. They secured cell phones and data carriers.
The couple from Bad Bocklet are suspected of having put up several of these tarpaulins, which were held in place by wooden slats. Because there were several such obstacles on January 6th on the eight-kilometer railway line between Thüngen and Eußenheim in the Main-Spessart district, it can be assumed that the couple must have had at least supporters. “The further investigations now have to show whether there were secured traces of the suspect or other people involved in the investigation at the scene of the crime,” said the press report from the Lower Franconia police headquarters.
The ICE was out of schedule that day on the route that is normally used by freight trains. On the poster, which hung completely over the rails and was held in shape with sturdy wooden slats, it read in red: “This time fake”, as if something would be done seriously later.
Assigned to the corona denier scene
Shortly after the attack, the Würzburg police force founded the “Werntal” special commission with the railway police. First of all, it was determined in all directions. But thanks to the observations of a witness who turned to the police with his knowledge, the investigators focused on the couple and their environment.
According to research by this editorial team, at least the man has been on the scene of corona deniers for months. The man had already made a name for himself in the summer with demonstrations and rallies in the Bad Kissingen pedestrian zone. He can also be seen at the regular demonstrations on Town Hall Square against the measures to contain the pandemic. On his publicly accessible Facebook page, he writes about “Impfterror” or shares calls for protest rallies such as on January 22, when Corona critics wanted to paralyze the A7.
Suspect apparently already filed a complaint against Söder
On another digital channel, he publicly shared a photo showing a document. It is a response from the Schweinfurt public prosecutor. Apparently, the 36-year-old has filed a complaint against Prime Minister Markus Söder – for assault. The criminal complaint was, so it can be read, “no consequence”. Reasons: A preliminary investigation should only be initiated if there is suspicion of prosecutable criminal offenses, which is not the case. And: “Insofar as it is presumed that reasons for maintaining power or economic interests are behind regulations and orders under infection protection law, no criminal offenses are evident that could be violated.”
The 36-year-old is also active in the “Corona rebels Bad Kissingen”, a digital group with around 200 members. Content of the chat group: Corona, the resistance to the measures to contain the pandemic and conspiracy theories. The man has not made a confession. The Soko Werntal continues to investigate.
