Washed down lunch with three glasses of wine and then drove to a few errands. This daily planning had considerable consequences for a 55-year-old from the southern district.
Prosecutor Antonia Heitmann-Gordon accused the father of the family that the accident on Schlossallee in Bergham was due to alcoholism. The Austrian had collided head-on with oncoming traffic going out of town and then struck down a garden fence.
For this he received a penalty order which, because of its amount, would have resulted in the withdrawal of his hunting license, which he had only acquired two years ago. With his defense attorney Jochen Völter, the defendant fought to reduce the daily rates – and with it his license as a hunter. Since the crash, he has not touched any alcohol, is preparing for the medical-psychological examination, has had himself assessed and has given his driver’s license voluntarily for the time being. His hope: a maximum of 60 daily rates, because anyone more would inevitably have put an end to the hobby. Heitmann-Gordon didn’t want to go that far down and asked for 70 daily rates of 40 euros each. It was already his second blown drunk ride. Völter, however, referred to similar incidents and milder judgments.
Wassermann imposed 55 daily rates of 45 euros each, a total of 2475 euros and an eight-month ban on driving. “I think he took this incident to heart.” Ham
