I also think it’s going crazy on consoles. If I buy a game on an older PC and have to run it with low detail or a lower resolution and I upgrade to a better PC and run the game much better then I don’t pay a penny extra.
Yes, I understand that it takes man hours to upgrade the game for a new console and that additional logistics costs are incurred etc. etc. but the fact remains that as console players you just get a shitty deal, namely you pay for something that actually on a PC is simply free. It’s just a quick cash grab from the producer to make people pay extra for something they already have 95% ready on the shelf.
And then also dare to ask for 70 euros. Ridiculous. In this case you will get an upgrade for free if you come from PS4 but there are so many games nowadays that under the guise of a remaster or remake just make you pay the full price.
I played 50/50 on consoles and PCs but in recent years I notice less and less on consoles. There are several reasons for this, but one is that one of the major selling points of consoles, disk in and go, has now disappeared. Firmware upgrades, day zero patches of tens of gigabytes, regular patches, performance issues, bad ports, crashes … consoles lose all the advantages they had on PCs and return less and less in return.
