On January 11, lawyer Nicolás Raúl Pavez Cuevas presented his candidacy as an independent councilor for the Colina commune, within the Frente Amplio, Convergencia Social party.
However, Pavez’s inscription was rejected, a story he learned about on January 23 through the newspaper El Mercurio. The reason? He was already enrolled in another political party, specifically, Comunes, which was previously called Poder Ciudadano.
The situation surprised the lawyer, because he assures that he never registered in any political party, accusing that his signature was forged, as recorded in a document before a notary public.
When comparing the notarial file with the one that appears in the lawyer’s RUT, it is evident that both are diametrically opposed, accounting for the falsification of the signature.
Faced with this situation, the lawyer filed a claim with the First Electoral Tribunal, in which he denounced a series of irregularities. The document states that on January 26, “I proceeded to withdraw a possible Party Affiliation file from the Electoral Service (Servel). By giving me said card, I was able to verify that it is an alleged Affiliation Card to the Power Party, No. 5743, dated June 10, 2017 ”.
Irregularities
The lawyer specifies that “the document is signed with a signature that, in light of the content of the national identity card that is attached in another part of this presentation, and of any public or private document that may be obtained signed by me, not only is it dissatisfied, but it openly has no relationship, shape, proportion or meaning with my signature, being totally false ”.
He also denounced that “the address located in the commune of La Pintana corresponds to one that is absolutely unknown to me and in which I have never resided.”
Finally, it accuses that “the document indicates that it was signed at the Notary Public of Mr. Jaime Romero Ordenes, Public Notary of the Quilicura commune, singled out with the corresponding stamp, to which I did not attend, despite indicating in this:“ SIGNED BEFORE ME THE APPEARANT ALREADY INDIVIDUALIZED ”.
Pavez: “This has hurt me a lot”
In conversation with The counter, Nicolás Pavez explains that “there are two things that are very serious. One is that the signature is grossly false, and the second is that this is done before a notary public, and that is a much more delicate issue that must be investigated ”.
Pavez adds that he presented “a claim to the Regional Electoral Tribunal, and just two days ago the court ruled and did not agree with me. At this moment I cannot be a candidate, and what I have to do is appeal to the Tricel. This has hurt me a lot ”.
