A while ago, the CD Projekt published information via social networks about the massive data leakage and extortion it has been facing from hackers since yesterday. According to information from the CD Project, the leak does not include private data of players or users of their services.
The attackers left a message that the CD Project decided to release – it mentions that the complete source codes for Cyberpunk 2077, Wizard 3: The Wild Hunt and Gwent: The Witcher Card Game were stolen. In addition, however, the attackers also got an unreleased version of the third Wizard documents related to accounting, administration, legal relations, human resources, investor relations and more. Furthermore, all data from their servers were encrypted, but they have already been restored from the backup.
According to hackers, the CD Project now has 48 hours to contact them. If no agreement is reached, the stolen game data will be sold or published online and the stolen documents will be sent to journalists. CD Projekt vehemently refused to negotiate with hackers and has already notified the relevant legal authorities and IT specialists with whom he will work closely to ensure that the whole incident is properly investigated.
