Vaccination in the Val-d’Oise: and now it’s the turn of the liberal doctors!

The hospitals of Gonesse and Pontoise have already started the vaccination campaign this week. Five days after its opening, the GHT NOVO center (North West Vexin Val-d’Oise territorial hospital group) inoculated 325 doses to professionals over 50 years of age or identified as being at risk, including 61 liberal. At the same time, 196 residents or elderly patients of the facility were also vaccinated.

In Gonesse, it started this Friday afternoon. A first session which allowed 15 caregivers to be vaccinated. Thirty geriatric patients have also been. But from next week, the vaccination center will also be open to health personnel outside the hospital but from the territory. Only by appointment. The rate should be around fifty doses per day at the start, and could double thereafter depending on the requests.

“We will be able to amplify the vaccinations”

“The organizations are now in place and we will be able to increase the vaccinations from next week”, explains Jean Pinson, director of the hospital center, a freezer-carrier establishment also in charge of the supply of vaccines for the hospitals of Saint -Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis) and Eaubonne in particular. The Argenteuil hospital will also open from this Monday to the Liberals.

But the campaign is now leaving the confines of hospitals to settle in the city and thus get closer to liberal health professionals. The first vaccination center, outside hospitals, in Val-d’Oise, will open this Saturday in Taverny. A vaccination session will also take place this Sunday in Sarcelles. This prefigures the vaccination of other priority groups defined by the public authorities.

According to the regional health agency (ARS) of Val-d’Oise, there will be a total of ten vaccinodromes in the department, which goes beyond the Prime Minister’s announcement on Thursday evening, which provided for six.

Two doctors who died of Covid in Sarcelles

In Sarcelles, a city of 59,000 inhabitants where the excess mortality rate tripled during the first wave of Covid-19 in Ile-de-France, the team from the diagnostic and screening center installed since November at the Valéry neighborhood center. Watteau responded to the request from the ARS last Tuesday.

“We were ready. The center has already been set up, we have appropriate premises and the nursing staff is already present, with four liberal doctors and ten liberal nurses in rotation and two laboratories. Five other nurses will join us for the vaccination, ”explains Doctor Majida El Mokhtari, referring physician.

The latter grew up and has been working in Sarcelles for eleven years. “The great precariousness exposes the inhabitants more. There is a high population density and close proximity to housing, which makes it difficult to isolate patients. We had one of the highest excess mortality in Ile-de-France, which is why last spring, we requested the ARS for the first screening center at the Anne-Frank school. “

240 caregivers expected this Sunday

Vaccination is open to doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, speech therapists, physiotherapists… but also medical secretaries and household helpers who work with the elderly, upon certification. At first, not all caregivers are beneficiaries. “I am 40 years old and I am in good health so I will wait my turn”, assures Majida El Mokhtari.

“Our patients often ask us if we are going to be vaccinated, we have to show them the example. In Sarcelles, many doctors lowered the curtain during the first wave because they were sick, at risk or were afraid. We also deplore at least two deaths, ”she recalls.

Some 240 caregivers can be taken care of on Sunday. “They have been warned upstream and choose a niche on an online meeting platform,” she continues. The latter will be stopped at Saturday noon to know the number of vaccines they need. There is no question of wasting a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine because of the current restrictions.

Explain vaccination to residents

The doses come from the Gonesse hospital. They must then spend at least three hours in the refrigerator before administration. “Friday noon, we had a hundred registered and we expect to reach 200 people on Sunday”, specifies Hicham Assarini, coordinator of the Covid center in Sarcelles.

He says he is “satisfied to provide a response to the population with all the arsenal: diagnosis, screening and now vaccination.” Sarcelles is the sub-prefecture of the department and, with us, the populations do not move. The approach is also supported by the Sarcelles caregivers. “

To guarantee the success of this campaign, Majida El Mokhtari still has a concern: “The main contraindication is a history of anaphylactic shock and not a banal allergy like that to dog hair. Small webinars should be set up to simply explain vaccination to people, ”she said.

Already 350 registrations at Taverny in 24 hours

In Taverny, the municipality evokes a “logical development” for the city, which hosted last March one of the first Covid-19 emergency centers, transformed in July into a screening center. More than 17,000 tests were thus carried out. “We followed all the steps,” explains the municipality. This is why we positioned ourselves at the end of the year. “

The town has bought a refrigerator to store vaccines and 500 doses should be delivered this weekend. As elsewhere, only health professionals from the department will be able to come and be vaccinated initially. Twenty-four hours after the opening of registrations, 350 appointments had already been made. According to the evolution of government directives, it should then be open to the elderly, then to the rest of the population.
