Candidate Kim of the Open Democratic Party, where the supporters of Kang Sung Chin-moon (Pro-Moon Jae-in) gather, is expected to use the Wanju Card as a lever as an opportunity to secure a position in the passport in the future.
Candidate Kim said at a meeting with reporters after the Democratic Party Mayor of Seoul was confirmed and the nomination ceremony held at the National Assembly this morning. He specifically mentioned the unification method.
Candidate Kim’s side received a positive position regarding unification from Democratic Party candidates Park Young-sun and Woo Sang-ho. On the 12th of last month, Candidate Woo agreed to promote the unification with Kim, and Park also announced to reporters on the 7th that he agreed on the unification. The “Park Young-seon-Park Won-soon model,” which Kim told reporters on the day, was in 2011 It refers to a system in which candidates were elected by each political party during the Seoul Mayor’s election in 2014, and then an integrated final was held in the third zone.
At that time, a single candidate was decided using three methods: Δ public opinion poll, Δ judge by jury after TV debate, Δ public participation contest. Candidate Kim can be interpreted as seeing that the public debate process is necessary, like the 2011 unified finals model, rather than hasty unification.
However, it is expected that the detailed contest process will be clearly discussed and announced only after the first day of the decision of the Democratic Party’s final candidate. It is an analysis that since both Park and Woo are preliminary candidates, it may be burdensome to specifically mention the process of the contest with Kim.
The time to announce the candidate for unification is predicted from March 1, when the Democratic Party’s candidate for Mayor of Seoul is confirmed, to March 19, when candidate registration with the Election Commission is finalized. However, there is a high possibility that the unification will be announced by surprise on March 8. This is because in the case of incumbent lawmakers, if they go to the by-election, they have to drop their positions by March 8.
Candidate Kim said in his acceptance speech, “If you want to win the hearts of the supporters of the Open Democratic Party with strong self-esteem, the Democratic Party should propose a schedule and method for unifying candidates to the Open Democratic Party.” ‘Isn’t there a successful unification model?’
“If you want Kim Jin-ae to continue working as a member of the National Assembly even if he cannot win the single candidate for the mayor of Seoul, if you want Sang-ho Woo to remain as a candidate, and if Candidate Jo Jung-hoon for the transition to the era continues to fulfill his mission of the transition, then It is necessary to reflect on several points and come up with a proposal,” he asked the Democratic Party to reveal a schedule for unification.
When asked if I would finish the election if unification fails, he said, “I will leave it to the citizens’ judgment as to what kind of strategy I have.”
