Apple had a good end of the year during 2020 thanks to the launch of its iPhone 12 and took the first place in world shipments to Samsung.
In accordance with Canalys, during the fourth quarter of last year, 359.6 million cell phones were sent worldwide, a figure 2% lower than in 2019.
Of all those units, Apple Shipping 81.8 million cell phones, 4% more than in the same period of the previous year.
Samsung, who led the ranking of the first three quarters of the year, however, sent 62 million cell phones, 12% less than in 2019, falling to second place.
Xiaomi, for its part, it grew by 31% compared to 2019 and delivered 43.4 million units. Oppo and Vivo followed closely with 34.7 and 32.1 million respectively.
However, it is surprising that the giant Huawei has left the top five after 6 consecutive years on the podium, with 32 million cell phones sent.
In general terms of 2020, Samsung shipped 255.6 million cell phones, Apple, 207 and Huawei (including Honor), 188.5. Nevertheless, Xiaomi it is getting closer and closer with its 149 million units shipped.
In Latin America, the issue is not so different, although all companies, except for Xiaomi, were short in numbers. In the Peruvian market, Samsung continues to lead with 28% of units sold, but with a decrease of 5% annually.
