Krefeld / Mönchengladbach / Rhine district Neuss / district Viersen. IHK and members of the state parliament contact federal ministers

“Reliability and predictability are crucial for the companies in our region with a view to financial aid and the open perspective in order to cope with the economic consequences of the corona pandemic. Without them, the upswing will hardly succeed. ”With this appeal, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Mittlerer Niederrhein and members of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia address Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmaier and Federal Finance Minister Olaf Scholz in a joint, non-partisan letter.

“In the surveys of the IHK Mittlerer Niederrhein and the many discussions with entrepreneurs, a dramatic picture emerges,” says the letter. The financial situation of many companies in Krefeld, Mönchengladbach, in the Rhine district of Neuss and in the district of Viersen is precarious, and for many the situation is life-threatening. “In a current IHK survey of small businesses, 20 percent said they were thinking about giving up their business. In the worst case this means: around 10,000 small businesses in our region alone would have to close. “

Those affected in particular needed a quick payout, reliable rules and an unbureaucratic procedure. The signatories therefore demand: “The technical requirements for processing direct applications for November and December aid must be created as quickly as possible. All aid programs must be pushed forward with high pressure. “

In addition, the companies needed reliable opening perspectives. “Instead of having to rely on government support, they want to stand on their own two feet again economically. The companies are well prepared with hygiene concepts, ”it says. For the companies, an opening path that describes the concrete requirements for a step-by-step removal of the restrictions for the companies is now more important than ever. It is therefore welcomed that the next Prime Minister’s Conference will also discuss concrete requirements for opening steps.

The signatories agree that the federal and state governments should jointly develop criteria that will first show when an end to the general reduction in contact is possible. “The further order of priority and also the definition of the protective conditions for opening in individual cases should then also be shown using comprehensible criteria,” it says.
