Krefeld / Mönchengladbach. The Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences offers prospective students a comprehensive program of study orientation – and all that without physically visiting the university locations. From the comfort of the sofa, those seeking advice can click through online workshops, virtual tours or zoom consultations.

“It is important to us that we enable direct contact and individual discussions with prospective students despite the physical distance,” says Kirsten Möller, Head of the Central Student Advisory Service. Together with her colleagues, she offers regular online consultation hours, WhatsApp advice and workshops. And digital student advice can be much more than digital consultation hours.

“In order to give those interested and those seeking advice a good insight into the university, we have not only put general advice on our website, but also insights into the departments,” says Kirsten Möller. Prospective students can view introductory lectures, tutorials or tours. “After you have found your desired course of study, we offer the HSNR Navigator. This online test takes around an hour and you can get comprehensive information about a course, ”explains Kirsten Möller.

Personal experience is also important in making a decision to study. Students, the so-called study ambassadors, are available for this. The study ambassadors offer zoom talks, but also visit schools in the region online. Teachers can request a visit at any time.
