According to the credit protection association of 1870 (KSV1870), restructuring proceedings without self-administration were opened at the Vienna Commercial Court on the assets of the operating company. The liabilities were put at 940,000 euros. Around 22 creditors and 13 employees are affected. The financing of the redevelopment plan with a quota of 20 percent should succeed from continued operation, it said.
In the previous year there had been support in the form of a participation by the “Stolz auf Wien” GmbH, which the City of Vienna set up. The aim of this initiative was to help companies affected by the CoV crisis. The system works as follows: The city participates with a maximum of 20 percent shareholder shares per company. The shares must be bought back after seven years at the latest.

It was not until 2016 that the coffeehouse was completely renovated by the new local owner Martina Postl. This total renovation was supposed to make the cafe more popular again. A closure was out of the question. After all, the coffeehouse looks back on a long tradition: in 1907 the Art Nouveau cafe was founded by Wilhelm Ritter. Since then, Cafe Ritter has been an integral part of Viennese coffee house culture and has served as a meeting place for many famous people. Football legend Ernst Happel was also a frequent guest.
